Gympie Welcome’s Caitlyn Home

NOVEMBER 1 -2 was a big weekend for country music in South East Queensland.  There was the annual Champion of Champions, Mud Bulls & Music … But the gig we are interested in happened in Gympie on Sunday afternoon when Caitlyn was welcomed home by a sea of fans after being away for months filming the X Factor.

Caitlyn was transported to the stage through the crowd, police escort (on foot) and all in the back of a ute.  As one of the sound guys said, “You know you are in the country when the star arrives in the back of a ute”.  It even looked as though she was seated upon a bale of hay.

But when she hit the stage, things really started to fire, not only for Caitlyn but also for the band and the audience.  The Wolfe Brothers did a great job backing Caitlyn as she did her set, mostly songs she had sung in the X Factor competitions.  It was certainly exciting to see that young and old alike enjoyed the afternoon program.
